My Candid Review on Golden Goose Deluxe Brand
This eve, I’m here with a review of my Golden Goose Superstar sneakers. I most definitely don't always splurge on shoes, but these were just too hard to resist when I first saw them over a year ago. Since then, they have become increasingly popular – && it’s hard not to see a blogger without a pair. From the different color-ways to the distressed design && versatility, I have to admit that it is so easy to get hooked once you buy your first pair. They are no doubt a huge commitment && come with a steep price tag. So here it is, if you’re wondering what the hype is about, I’m breaking down all the details to help you make an informed decision on whether or not to splurge on them.
How Does Sizing Run?
GG’s come in whole European sizes, so I recommend sticking to your corresponding US size. If you are in-between sizes (like a 6.5 or 7.5), I recommend sizing down especially if you plan on wearing them with thin or no socks. For reference, I am a 6 - 6.5 and I can wear a 35 && 36.
Which Style To Buy?
I currently own several pairs of GG’s. I started with the Running Sole && loved them so much I added two more to start my collection. I then moved on to the Mid Star purchasing two pairs of those && then of course the super-star purchasing two pairs of those. They are so chic && statement-making, which is perfect for me since I wear A LOT of neutrals. (Plain as they come kinda girl). They always stand out against my outfits. I have no one favorite pair. Actually, every time I wear a pair && someone asks, I’m like, “This is my favorite pair”… I love them all. My emerald Mids are known as a “unicorn” pair (hard to find). These are the ones I searched for months for. Maybe I favor them a bit more.
Are They Comfortable?
There are mixed reviews on this depending on who you ask, but I personally found my Mid Star && Super-Star have a break-in period, unlike my Running Sole which was comfortable from day one. However, once you get over the short period, they’re super comfortable – && it only takes 1-2 wears. I love that the leather insole is higher than most sneakers, so they provide added height && better cushion. (Short girl probs && all)
How To Keep Them Clean?
Perhaps the best thing about GG’s is they’re extremely low maintenance. There isn’t a ton of cleaning && upkeep required since they come distressed. However, to extend their life (like any designer piece), wipe them down as needed and refrain from wearing them while running or playing sports… I want to say DUH, but I mean…
What To Wear Them With?
My GG’s are the most versatile sneakers in my wardrobe. The worn look makes them super easy to style. I typically wear them with denim, leggings, && workout sets. However, I have also paired them with casual knit dresses && found that to be a perfect combination. While I’m obsessed with wearing them when I’m traveling or running errands, they also look amazing for casual outings when you want to be comfortable && look stylish.
Where to Buy Them?
You can find GG’s at most major retailers && a few online boutiques. My favorite places to browse them are Nordstrom, Net-A-Porter, SSENSE, MyTheresa, Revolve, Shopbop, && Intermix. If you’re looking to score a pair on sale, definitely join the Facebook group named Golden Goose Deluxe Brand BST. It is an extremely trustworthy group where GG’s are sold or traded && I have actually purchased a rare pair from the group myself that I had spent months searching for.
Are They Worth It?
It sounds insane to spend $450+ on a pair of sneakers, but I’m justifying it with cost per wear. That said, the GG sneakers are worth every penny in my opinion. (There is that word again, OPINION. I love it). I’ve had mine for well over a year && they’ve held up incredibly well even though I’ve worn them a ton. If you ever foresee yourself wearing them a few times a week, they’re definitely worth buying. I think it is also important to note that GG’s are hand-made with high-quality Italian leather, which also justifies the higher price point. With athleisure && comfort dressing being here to stay, you really CAN NOT go wrong with high-quality, designer sneakers that will elevate your look.
Side note: I’m not one of those girls that have to have designer everything. Let me EMPHASIZE how plain I am… I have worked very hard since I was in my younger years && I work 6 days a week most weeks… please hold judgement for splurging on something that makes me feel good. ❤︎
Side Side Note: I’m all for men wearing GG’s. The Super-Star that is… I have purchased the basic black with the white star as a gift && I do not find them too much for even the manliest man…
