Piercing + Jewelry
What You Need To Know
These are performed with a cannula piercing needle that is the most safe and sterile way. All piercings are done with flat back earrings or hoops to reduce snagging during the healing process. Hypoallergenic Titanium is the best option for Piercing metals. Implant-grade titanium is the material that most piercers prefer for initial piercing. This is because it is nickel-free. Nickel is the most common contact allergen in the world. Titanium doesn't contain ANY nickel, which makes it safe for people with sensitive skin or a nickel allergy and comes in all colors. The other piercing option would be 14kt gold upon request, but still may be rejected due to allergy. I do not use any steel or sterling silver.
DOES IT HURT?
Everyone's pain tolerance is different, so it is difficult to tell your client whether or not piercings hurt. Italso depends on the placement that your client is wanting. The piercing itself is seconds, and the mostcommon way I hear people describe the feeling of a piercing is they say it feels "hot" or "spicy".
CAN YOU USE NUMBING WHILE PIERCING?
While numbing agents may seem like a good option for clients who are nervous or anxious about the piercing process, they can actually be less effective than other methods of pain management such as breathing techniques. You may purchase your own topical numbing and uses as directed prior to your appointment.
WHAT TYPE OF METAL DO YOU RECOMMEND USING?
The only metal that I provide in my studio is Implant-Grade Titanium. It is the highest quality metal on the market with the least amount of reactions. 14kt is available upon request but is not recommended. Any other metals should not be used until the piercing is completely healed.
